About Telehealth

Dr. Bufkin moore

I’m glad you found yourself here – at Metanoia Ranch! I am a licensed clinical psychologist, and have been in practice for more than two decades. Having benefited profoundly from sitting on both sides of the couch, I consider it a privilege to offer a space to help you negotiate and navigate the contours of life. If there is one thing I have learned, it is that we are all unique creatures who, simply put, desire to thrive in our time.

I am licensed and available to see people of all ages. Most of my work is individual (as opposed to group therapy) and all of my work is collaborative. That is, therapy is a unique endeavor that utilizes the dynamics of all engaged in the process.

I grew up in the flatland of Mississippi, and attended the University of Mississippi for undergraduate education. I earned a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology, as well as the Doctor of Psychology degree at the Rosemead School of Psychology (Biola University) in Los Angeles.

CONSULTATIONS & THERAPY

Whether you are looking for direction, help, rest, or encouragement, therapy is a good option. Often we do not know *exactly* why we feel the way we feel or act the way we act, and therapy is a scenario that provides a venue for you to be you – freed from the noise and banter of normal life. Therapy is not a magic potion or an escape from life. Rather, therapy is, simply out, a relationship that helps provide the nutrients for you to grow.

Sometimes therapy is focused on one specific pressing issue, and at other times the work takes more of a “broad strokes” approach. Either way, therapy is a unique and potentially life changing course of treatment.

Sometimes you just need to sit down and sort things out. During the consultation, which can last over several meetings, we can do just that. During the consultation, you can expect a detailed and intentional series of questions. Psychological testing is often a part of consultation, especially for purposes of diagnostic clarification and treatment planning (the “where are we, how did we get here, and where do we want to be?” portion of treatment). Consultation is your opportunity to tell and hear your story, which is paramount.

EVALUATIONS

Psychological testing, or evaluation, is a useful tool. There are many advantages to conducting testing, as it can provide both baseline and ongoing data to help inform treatment progress. While many psychological tests provide “moment in time” data, there are other tests that can show valid, stable “traits” such as intelligence or academic fluency. When considering diagnoses such as ADHD, for instance, psychological testing can provide excellent information and diagnostic clarification. Certain surgical procedure (bariatric surgery, spinal cord stimulator implant devices, etc) have required pre-procedure psychological testing. Most law enforcement agencies now have required psychological evaluation either as part of the “fitness for duty” part of the pre-hire process or as a result of a critical incident (discharge of a service weapon or specific trauma). At Metanoia Ranch we take psychological evaluation very seriously, as it can provide intimate and detailed information that is ultimately used for good.
